Hooks, climbers, spurs, and irons, are all general terms for a pair of climbing spikes. “Gaff” refers to the spike of the spur only. Spurs are useful in removals but because Spur climbing damages trees (piercing their protective layers and opening pathways for disease and insects to further damage the tree) you shouldn't use your spurs on a tree unless you’re removing it.
At Donegans we will keep you looking sharp in climbing spikes from Stein, Distel, and Treehog and if you need any help deciding which climbing spurs would suit your needs, give us a call on 042-9666725 and we'll be happy to help.
