Please note that the STIHL MS 231 chainsaw come with 2 different chain setups.
Since 2020 the MS 231 comes with .325 1.3mm, prior to this the saw came with 3/8p 1.3mm.

We recommend that you count the number of drive links in your old chain to determine your chain length. The "drive links" are the parts of the chain which sit down inside the guide bar groove.

The common sizes for the model listed are as follows -

14" - 35cm - .325 (1.3mm) = 56 Drive Links - Light04

16" - 40cm - .325 (1.3mm) = 62 Drive Links - Light04

14" - 35cm - 3/8P (1.3mm) = 50 Drive Links

16" - 40cm - 3/8P (1.3mm) = 55 Drive Links

Counting the Drive Links in your old chain and comparing to these sizes ensures that you order the correct chain.
